Kamageo has announced the launch of their own exclusive trade events - THE SAFARI SHOW - which will take place across the UK throughout 2017. Kamageo has worked in partnership with Bradt Travel Guides to publish a special edition of their forthcoming and fully updated Guide to Uganda (edition 8). A 32-page colour section, created by Kamageo, has been added to the front of a limited edition to be exclusively available to leading UK travel professionals. It's packed with itinerary ideas, planning hints and sales tips galore. As MD, Tim Henshall explained "We inevitably majored on the main tourism destinations and Uganda's outstanding wildlife, but being incorporated within the leading travel guide, it ensures that many, many more options are explained in typically outstanding detail by Bradt". Both versions of the book are set to be published in early November, with the special edition only available via Kamageo.

Kamageo launched a major TV sponsorship for Uganda Tourism on NatGeo Wild TV, with a 15-second sponsor's credit before and after every programme, plus a 5-second spot in every commercial break. There are two different ads - "Gorilla" and "Chimp". The ads suggest that rather just watch the wildlife on TV, why not go and experience it for yourself? With NatGeoWild viewers' passionate about wildlife and research showing that they holiday on average 3+ times a year, it's a great audience to reach. Acacia Africa launched new tours featuring Swaziland - "A rising star on the African travel circuit". Arno Delport, Sales & Marketing Manager at Acacia Africa added, “Many experts are suggesting the tiny kingdom of Swaziland could well become Southern Africa’s new adventure capital in 2016.”
May 2016 : UGANDA
Kamageo is creating a campaign for Uganda to increase tourism by showcasing the vast range of products it has to offer. We will be engaging with travel trade professionals, the media and with consumers. “For the first time ever, Uganda will have public relations and marketing representatives in the UK” said Mr. Stephen Asiimwe the Chief Executive Officer at Uganda Tourism Board. Tim Henshall, Kamageo’s Managing Director added “As well as its world-famous mountain gorillas, the country has a wealth of national parks, an abundance of wildlife, incredible lakes and waterways including the Nile, truly outstanding birding and a wide range of adventure activities. April 2016 : RWANDA
Following an extensive review of trade marketing activity on behalf of Rwanda Development Board in 2015, Kamageo has reported a 38% increase in the number of UK tour operators selling Rwanda as a destination. There has also been a 35% increase in proactive selling by the trade. Tim Henshall, Managing Director at Kamageo stated that "the travel industry in the UK has been very receptive to the idea that Rwanda has numerous attractions beyond just mountain gorillas".
March 2016 : MALAWI
Consumer research has shown that Malawi has moved up the ranks to become Africa's 8th most desireable destination despite the reputation of perhaps more illustrious neighbours. Tourism Director, Kelly White stated that "This emphasises the shift in what travellers want from a trip to Africa as well as the exciting developments in Malawi. It has long attracted tourists to the Lake and to meet with its welcoming population, but huge improvements in conservation have made Malawi's national parks increasingly attractive".
February 2016 : RWANDA
Kamageo has confirmed that in the 12 months ending November 2015, Rwanda tourism benefitted from just over £2.6m worth of positive tourism-related editorial coverage in the UK. Adele Cutler, Kamageo's PR Director highlighted how "the lion reintroduction at Akagera National Park has aided our efforts, but overall the media was taken by Rwanda's wealth of attractions and activities". She also emphasised that it was important to analyse all Rwanda related coverage to appraise which is tourism related, what's positive and what's not.
January 2016 : SWAZILAND
Kamageo has completed a comprehensive market-mapping project on behalf of Swaziland Tourism Authority. Having thoroughly researched the entire UK travel industry to ascertain which operators offered what product from Swaziland, Kamageo has been able to provide STA with a highly defined target list for future business development.
Kamageo researched over 200 websites, 150 consumer brochures and discussed perceptions of Swaziland with over 50 specialists tour operators. “Market segmentation and profiling has allowed us to focus our future marketing efforts on those most likely to develop itineraries incorporating Swaziland. We're very excited by the fact that 2015 has seen some important operators such as Cox & Kings, Explore and Tucan introduce Swaziland.” said Kelly White, Tourism Director of Kamageo.
