KAMAGEO LEADS SUCCESSFUL MEDIA TRIP TO SIERRA LEONE

Journalists representing 14 different national publications and 4 websites (including Telegraph, Independent, Guardian, Wanderlust, Metro, Travel Africa, NatGeo Traveller, TTG and Travel Weekly) headed to Sierra Leone in April, courtesy of SLNTB and Kamageo, to experience the best of the tourism attractions this amazing destination has to offer.

Over a 10-day trip, the travel writers visited Gola Forest, Tiwai island, the Kono Diamond Mines, the Wara Wara Hills, Banana Island, Tacuguma Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Bunce Island and the bustling Freetown.

It would be fair to say that the country's tourism industry is still in its infancy, but for the more intrepid traveller, it offers so much. "I can see that with if the private sector creates more mid- and upmarket accommodation, then Salone has all the ingredients for a truly amazing destination", commented Tim Henshall.

The country's history (especially its links with the slavery trade)  make it a truly fascinating destination, although it is the warmth and vibrancy of the Sierra Leoneans that make it most memorable. The stunning beaches, the primary rainforest, a wealth of wildlife (including numerous primate species) and Tacugama only add to the experience.

A trade fam trip following similar routes is being finalised for October 2019 and with limited places available, interested parties are being recommended to lodge their interest as soon as possible with tim@kamageo.com.
