Tim Henshall

Chief Executive

Tim describes himself as a serial safari-er having first visited Africa over 20 years ago and has returned 60+ times since. Tim has so far visited 95 countries and territories around the globe, often in search of wildlife - from anacondas in Venezuela to tigers in India.

Since 2006, Tim has helped
 increase visitor numbers to various Africa destinations, through his work at Kamageo (and sister brand, Kamili). He has developed strategies and implemented tourism campaigns for tourism enterprises and/or authorities in Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania,  Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Malawi, Mozambique, Zanzibar, Lesotho, Eswatini (Swaziland), Republic of Congo, CAR, Madagascar, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Mauritius and The Gambia. 


Tim is a lifelong marketer, with over 35 years experience. He has held senior marketing roles at a number of international brands in various categories (from sports to jeanswear), as well as leading roles within marketing and advertising agencies. He has been fortunate enough to win industry awards for creativity, marketing strategy and effectiveness.  

  • 35+ years marketing experience, with the last 15 of these in tourism marketing. 

  • Visited Africa more than 60 times (taking in 22 different countries).

  • Successfully marketed over 100 lodges, camps and safari operators in Africa from 2006 onwards

  • Made over 1,000 trade and consumer presentations on Africa tourism

  • Widely recognised as an Africa tourism expert for the past decade and a half.

  • Former Director of ATTA (Africa Travel & Tourism Association) from 2010 to 2015.

  • Former SATOA Board Member (Selling Africa to Tour Operators & Agents)

  • Fellow of Incorporated Practitioners of Advertising (IPA) since 2001

  • Publisher & Founder of 'Safari' Magazine

  • Marketing awards include D&AD, Cannes Lions, BTA Awards, Creative Circle, Cream, Roses and CIM Effectiveness

  • Former Regional Chairman of the UK's Chartered Institute of Marketing

  • Created the award-winning Learning Forum for the Chartered Institute of Marketing (including The Brand Bar)
